Amazonia Churrascaria has received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, which honors top-rated lodging businesses, restaurants and attractions, as reviewed by travelers on the world’s largest travel site.

To qualify, these businesses must maintain an average rating of four or higher out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on the site. Additional criteria include volume of reviews and how recently they have been submitted by TripAdvisor travelers. The accolade is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.

“Amazonia Churrascaria is pleased to receive a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence,” said General Manager Patrick v/d Berg. “We strive to offer our patrons a memorable experience, and this accolade is evidence that our hard work is translating into positive traveler reviews on TripAdvisor.”

“The TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence program gives exceptional businesses in a variety of different industries around the world the recognition they deserve,” says Christine Petersen, president of TripAdvisor for Business. “From top-rated restaurants in Boston to top-rated attractions in Barcelona, we want to applaud these businesses for offering TripAdvisor travelers a great customer experience.”

Amazonia Churrascaria recently introduced its refreshed dining under the leadership of General Manager Patrick v/d Berg, who spearheaded the seasonal restaurant’s Get Fresh, Get Festive and Get Spoiled campaign, surprising diners with new items off a carving cart, delivering fresh fish, and special cuts of beef such as Prime Rib to the table, besides the extensive traditional menu which includes a fabulous 52-item salad bar and sixteen cuts of perfectly grilled meats, just-baked, homemade breads, and sinfully decadent homemade desserts, prepared from scratch in-house. The bar menu now boasts new fruity sangria and tropical caipirinha, against a backdrop of refreshed décor, cushions, flowers and plants.

Amazonia Churrascaria first opened in Aruba in 2001, as the first original Churrascaria. The restaurant offers dinner Monday to Saturday from 6pm to 11pm and Sunday from 5pm to 11pm, delivering a truly unique dining experience, perfectly suited for large and small families, diverse groups, or intimate dinners for two, over great food and fine wine.

A special treat is on the menu of Papillon Restaurant in The Village this Saturday: Dutch mussels, flown in still dripping seawater and with the fresh, salty smell of one of Holland’s best export products still clinging to them. Mid July is the time when the tastiest, best mussels are cut in the south of Holland, at ‘de Zeeuwse kust’ and Papillon is gearing up for a true mussel feast.

Papillon’s chef will be preparing the mussels in the time-proven, classical way is with all the trimmings: boiled and steeped in French white wine with a garnish of fresh vegetables like finely cut onions, celery, parsley and black, freshly ground pepper and thyme. These traditional mussels are served with French bread, a salad and a choice of potatoes and various sauces…

Mussels are fantastically healthy: they contain hardly any cholesterol at all, are rich in vitamins and good fatty acids. The “Zeeuwse Mosselen” are world famous: they are tasty and chewy. At Papillon guests are served 1 kilo of mussels with all the trimmings for the price of $45.-

In continuation of the trend of multimillion refurbishments and improvements, the Hyatt Regency Aruba recently announced that it will unveil two exciting restaurant upgrades in time for the Christmas season.

A new, upscale Mexican restaurant and a refurbished Ruinas del Mar, its signature restaurant, by December 17, 2012.

Designed by The Johnson Studio, the new Mexican dining concept and refurbished Ruinas Del Mar will provide clients with two unique dining experiences. As they descend into the lagoon area, diners will be greeted by an inviting lounge situated on a floating deck over the existing reflecting pool. The lounge will provide a casual atmosphere upon arrival and serve as additional outdoor restaurant seating. Sail-like shades offer guests a retreat from the sun during the day and serve as the backdrop for soft up-lighting and illuminated lanterns, creating a candlelit dining experience at night.

Adjoining the lounge will be the new (so new that it is yet-to-be-named) Mexican restaurant, which will feature a menu of bold flavors, classics and signature creations. Its ingredient-driven menu of freshly made guacamole, refreshing ceviches, and authentic Mexican cuisine will be served with a contemporary twist. A glowing bar will display an extensive tequila selection and a sparkling shot glass chandelier will entice guests to indulge in a taste.

The two restaurants are sure to reap the benefits of using local produce within the new and upgraded menus, an endeavor that was recently highlighted by its current Director of Food and Beverage, Mr. Drew Carnahan in line with Hyatt’s global philosophy focused on sourcing and providing food and beverage options that are good for Hyatt guests and associates, good for the planet, and good for local communities.

Adjacent to the new restaurant lies the redesigned Ruinas del Mar. An open-hearth oven will fill the dining room with a sense of warmth and invite guests to partake in the action and energy of the kitchen. Abundant outdoor seating will give guests the opportunity to dine amidst the waterfalls and wildlife, while vibrant draperies and hand blown glass chandeliers will create a dramatic ambiance at night.

From August 20 – December 17, the beachfront Palms restaurant will be the main dining option, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Additional choices include oceanfront dining at Footprints Beach Grill, a sushi bar at Alfresco Lobby Bar, and dinner menus at Palms Bar and Piet’s Pier Bar. Upon completion of the upgrades, both restaurants will be open for dinner and Ruinas del Mar will be open daily for breakfast and Sunday Brunch.

Patrons coming for dinner at El Gaucho restaurant will notice the change immediately! The exterior color of the restaurant, serving the biggest and the best steaks since 1977 has been changed. Recently the walls were repainted several shades of blue, as inspired by the Argentinean flag.

Old pictures tell the story of a family owned grill house which opened on quaint Wilhelminastraat on February 17th, 1977, in the heart of town, a small unpretentious eatery dedicated to quality Argentinean steaks.

Over the years the restaurant evolved, upgraded and expanded and all along developed a die-hard following among locals and visitors.

The secret to the El Gaucho success story? There is no secret, just good management and dedicated staff members tirelessly, and consistently catering to over three generations of beef lovers.

Today, at the original location, the restaurant prepares a variety of tempting dishes, charcoal-grilled, juicy and tender steaks such as the famous Gaucho steak, the 16 oz sirloin, or the Pincho Torro Caliente — the world’s largest shishkebab, the T-bone steak, the veal chop, even fresh seafood and lobster and much more.

Any day of the week, while you savor your perfectly grilled Churrasco, the strolling guitarist duo, entertains with romantic tangos and boleros.

So drop in tonight or any night, the tradition lives on in the rustic dining room, as the friendly El Gaucho staff members pamper and entertain you…and the kids can quietly play in the Kids’ Room, with arcade games, Disney videos, crayons and Lego while parents enjoy a quiet and relaxing, unforgettable dinner.

As it is celebrating its 35th birthday, El Gaucho is now serving a multi-course Anniversary Menu featuring its most popular dishes. It is also raffling a free trip to Argentina, all expenses paid, among diners. The winning ticket will be drawn in December, so hurry up, make sure your name is included in the tombola.

The mussels are extra tasty this year and mussel lovers almost swoon when they taste them after a long draught! Fleshy and plump, they are seductively making one want more. The mussels arrive on Aruba with the fresh, salty smell of one of Holland’s and Belgium’s best export products still clinging to them. July and August are the months when the mussels are cut, mainly at `de Zeeuwse kust’. Taste of Belgium’s mussel feast will cost US $ 50.–; they are served with French fries and salad.

The mussels can be ordered in two ways: the traditional and the local way. The classic, traditional way is with all the trimmings: boiled and steeped in French white wine with a garnish of fresh vegetables like finely cut onions, celery, parsley and black, freshly ground pepper and thyme. The traditional mussels are served with French bread, French fries and mayonnaise. The other way is the `manera local’: stewed in Aruba’s locally brewed Balashi beer and served with funchi instead of French bread. Funchi is a local staple food.

Mussels are fantastically healthy: they contain hardly any cholesterol at all, are rich in vitamins and good fatty acids. The ‘Zeeuwse Mosselen’ are world famous: they are tasty and chewy. Every Thursday the mussels are delivered straight from the airplane; on Thursday evenings the mussels are already available.

Chef Scott, a proud papa himself, created a special three-course menu affordable priced just for Father’s Day, and of course, the island’s largest raw bar was amply supplied, along with live Maine lobster and a menu of classic and contemporary dishes to select from.

Aqua Grill is Aruba’s most critically praised seafood restaurant, where fresh catches from our local fishermen arrive daily, along with jet-fresh seafood flown in every afternoon. The restaurant is located in the heart of the hustle and bustle of dynamic Palm Beach. For more information and to make reservations call 586-5900.

Fishes & More Restaurant in the Arawak Garden received visitors from far way this week, when Cheryl, Teran and Eileen from Toronto, Canada and San Francisco came in to enjoy the restaurant’s great Early Bird Special. Fishes & More offers a weekly changing cocktail special and a wine special besides its popular Early Bird 3-course dinner for $ 22.75.

One has to come early, between 4 and 6.30 pm, to be able to make the most of this special, as our three friends in the picture did. They had heard great reviews about Fishes & More and good friends suggested the special. The three are having a wonderful time on the island, enjoying the weather, the friendly people and, very daring, parasailing.

Planning a nice night out with a good friend, a new girl or your spouse? Here’s a nice suggestion: Dinner & a Movie, a combination that is always good for lots of kisses and hugs. CILO City Lounge at the Renaissance Marketplace is offering a great dinner before or after a blockbuster film or one of the lot her attest releases. Le Bistro, the Mediterranean gem hidden at the Paseo Herencia Mall, is following suit in a hard-to-resist combo with The Cinemas, boasting six state-of-the-art theaters that seat a total of 860 movie aficionados. The Dinner & a Movie special costs AWG. 49,50 per person (or US $ 28.–), the price of a theater ticket included.

At Le Bistro a special menu precedes or follows your theater visit: dinner starts off with Soup of the Day or a Ceviche with pita chips or a mixed house salad. The appetizers are to whet your appetite for a grilled chicken skewer served with a peanut sauce, French fries and a salad or a filet of fish in a beer batter with a remoulade sauce, Dutch potatoes and vegetables.

A sorbet duo with fresh fruit or coffee concludes the special dinner menu.

At CILO City Lounge the menu reads as follows: the appetizer is a choice between soup of the day, Aruban mushroom gratin or a Caesar salad. The main course options are Cilo Pasta with grilled chicken, vegetables, a cream sauce and Gouda cheese, Grouper Papillotte, a steamed fish filet with potatoes and vegetables or Bali beef, stir-fried beef tips with vegetables and an oriental sauce. Dessert is a choice between deep-fried cheese cake, a Dame Blanche or coffee. The price for this sumptuous pre- or after-movie dinner is also AWG. 49.50 or US $ 28.–, including your theater ticket.

The price is right, the timing is perfect! Enjoy your Dinner & a Movie special at CILO or at Le Bistro any time you like. You can even come to dinner for the special and save your movie ticket for another time: stay for a drink or two and a heart-to-heart conversation. Whatever you choose: the Dinner & a Movie specials at the Renaissance Marketplace and the Paseo Herencia Mall are excellent value for your money!
